Zinc carnosine for peptic ulcer relief

Feb 22, 2022
In cell culture studies, zinc is able to increase mucin secretion; in animal studies, zinc has been shown to protect against peptic ulcers. In human studies, zinc supplementation has been shown to help heal peptic ulcers, with zinc combined with carnosine being most effective. Human studies with zinc carnosine (Zinc L-Carnosine CAS No.: 107667-60-7) have confirmed that zinc carnosine not only heals peptic ulcers, but also fights bacteria (Helicobacter pylori) that cause indigestion (stomach weakness), peptic ulcer disease, and stomach cancer. After giving 60 patients with indigestion due to H. pylori infection with either antibiotics alone (namsoprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin) or antibiotics plus carnosine zinc for seven days, it was found that those who received carnosine zinc The patient group had better outcomes (success rate 94% vs. 77%).

In a double-blind trial, 248 patients with confirmed gastric ulcers were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 groups to receive 150 mg daily of carnosine zinc extract or its associated placebo; or 800 mg cetrilate hydrochloride, a mucosal protectant, or its associated placebo. Study drug administration began within 1 week after endoscopic diagnosis of gastric ulcer and continued for 8 weeks. At week 8, 75% of patients in the zinc carnosine group experienced significant symptom relief, compared with 72% in the cetrosine group; at week 8, endoscopy in the zinc carnosine group The cure rate obtained by examination was 60.4%, compared with 46.2% in the cekodate group.
