Bilberries are also called wild European blueberries; blueberries are called American blueberries. Bilberry is mainly distributed in Nordic regions such as Scandinavia, Finland, Russia and other places, while blueberries are widely produced and relatively common. The fruit of blueberry is clustered, while the fruit of bilberry is often solitary or opposite, and the fruit is softer and more juicy than blueberry, so it is not easy to transport and the price is often higher. Besides the blue-purple skin, blueberries have green flesh, while bilberries are generally bright red or purple. That is saying, the whole fruit of bilberries is purple-red, while only the skin of blueberries is blue-purple.The purple part in bilberries and blueberries are actually the color of anthocyanins.  Therefore, the anthocyanin content of bilberries is much higher than that of blueberries, which is 4 times that of blueberries.
