Carnosine （L-carnosine） is a natural molecule composed of two amino acids—histidine and alanine. It has been used as a dietary supplement for several years. Carnosine acts in "excitable" tissues such as muscle and nerve tissue, and is found in high concentrations in skeletal muscle. In these tissues it is essential for maintaining normal pH and charge.
