Folium Artemisiae argyi is a traditional Chinese medicine with long history and rich chemical diversity. There are studies on the biological activity of monomer components, especially on the role of moxa leaves in acupuncture (moxibustion). In addition to traditional moxibustion, it has been developed into a variety of compound and micro moxibustion agents, capsules, patches, beta cyclodextrin inclusions, bath agents, dropping pills and other formulations. The chemical constituents of artemisia argyi include volatile oil, flavone, eucalyptus, triterpenes and trace chemical elements.
Hemostasis
The results showed that the content of volatile components in artemisia argyi decreased significantly after heating. After stir-fried charcoal or baking, artemisia argyi has obvious hemostasis effect
Anticoagulant
Research showed that water extract from Artemisia argyi inhibited platelet aggregation significantly. Two effective components, beta glutarol and 5, 7- two hydroxyl -6, 3,4- three methyl flavonoids, were extracted from the leaves of Artemisia Artemisia, and the effect of two effective monomers on platelet aggregation was elucidated.
The role of the central nervous system
It can prolong the sleep time of pentobarbital, but it can accelerate the convulsion and death of strychnine, which seems to have a certain synergistic effect. Besides, it has a strong inhibitory effect on the heart and protects the allergic shock caused by the ovalbumin in guinea pig.
Complement activation
Polygalactose, a hot water extract from Moxa argyi, can be added to human serum to decrease the complement value in serum and prove to be the result of complement activation. It was aslo found that the hot water extract of Artemisia argyi has strong complement activity, and its main activity is acidic polysaccharide. In addition, studies have shown that AI extract can induce interferon in vivo.
