Nicotinamide Riboside can enhance mitochondrial function, which is enhanced by enhancing mitochondrial electron transport chain protein expression, increasing mitochondrial membrane potential, increasing oxidative respiration rate and intracellular ATP levels. This may be accompanied by a higher level of mitochondrial regeneration. Decreased mitochondrial function with age is the hallmark of stem cell senescence we find. Nicotinamide riboside can enhance mitochondrial function and thus inhibit the aging of stem cells.
