Use of N-Acetylneuraminic acid: 

N-Acetylneuraminic Acid is a carbohydrate that is widely present in nature and is an essential component of many glycoproteins, glycopeptides and glycolipids. It has a wide range of biological functions such as hemoglobin half-life regulation, neutralization of multiple toxins, cell adhesion , Immunogenic antigen-antibody responses and protection against cell lysis. Sialic acid biochemical derivatives are also commonly used in the synthesis of drugs.
